Idea for the cookie cutters could be to have the kids trace the shapes (like a stencil) and inside they could write adjectives that describe that shape. Or maybe they write spelling words? You could even use them for small shape poems? I hope these ideas help! Im your newest follower! Stop on over to my blog and check it out! I'm a newbie and hoping for more readers!

http://californiaenglishteacher.blogspot.com

SarahSarah Adamshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07628421840058390913noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6482696438568429057.post-87535457884087298722011-08-10T16:18:00.436-04:002011-08-10T16:18:00.436-04:00I'm so glad you have a picture of toilet paper...I'm so glad you have a picture of toilet paper rolls. I don't do many crafts in my classroom, but I'm almost famous for using toilet paper rolls! :) Here's two ideas...

http://www.busybeekidscrafts.com/Toilet-Paper-Roll-Animals.html

or I actually have a book full of different animal parts that you could easily give to the children to color and follow the instructions to make their own toilet paper animals.

for the easy printable versions, go to
www.teacherfilebox.com
they're called "Paper Tube Animals"

I use these when I'm teaching a science unit. In Kindergarten, I used them when I was teaching a letter of the alphabet, "A is for Alligator."

Good luck! :)Mrs. Lunahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16416633299528814958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6482696438568429057.post-84497122692743462862011-08-07T16:46:43.849-04:002011-08-07T16:46:43.849-04:00Thanks Amy and Abby! Abby- we do use Everyday Math- the rolls will work perfectly to keep their number scrolls.

Be sure to link up to my link party below if you girls have anything you're trying to figure out what to do with! :)Kristenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15534282381923019179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6482696438568429057.post-145157988858520712011-08-07T14:44:55.327-04:002011-08-07T14:44:55.327-04:00I don't know if your school uses Everyday Math...I don't know if your school uses Everyday Math, but in Everyday Math we make number scrolls that can get pretty long. I use the paper towel rolls to store the rolled up scrolls. Also, I know a teacher who had her students create an invention during a social studies unit (I can't remember exactly what it was) and she gave them paper towel and toilet paper rolls as an option for building materials. Hope that helps :)

Abby
msalleysclass.blogspot.comabbyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09141308191125368574noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6482696438568429057.post-74043926823453122342011-08-03T21:34:57.127-04:002011-08-03T21:34:57.127-04:00During our space unit we use one paper towel roll ...During our space unit we use one paper towel roll and 3 toilet paper rolls to make a space ship. I staple the 3 tp rolls around the bottom of the pt roll and then the kids paint them. The 3 tp rolls are like the rocket boosters. We use triangle cups for water for the tips and paper for flames out the back. It is great to hang around the room and in the hallway to start the unit.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
